A new week calls for a new project. This is a bit of an exciting one actually and such an honour too. It is our first live project and competition with the brand Strathberry.
Strathberry is a luxury handbag brand. You might know them for accessorising Meghan Markle with their lovely Midi Tote. The brand really focuses on minimalist designs with their trademark gold bar for the closure on their bags.
The brief is simple. Design a 10cm x 180cm silk twill scarf using imagery from Edinburgh or Scotland in general. More specifically a scarf inspired by “Scottish cityscapes, architecture and landscapes.” We can use any medium and colours which is quite liberal for a client brief. The only restriction was to have to have the Strathberry logo incorporated into the design. We also have to consider the back of the scarf, maybe in a contrasting design?
I am not going to lie, I feel a little pressure with this project. Of course there is the competition element of it, whoever wins apparently gets one of their beautiful bags. Nevertheless, I feel stressed, as my work has to look professional and ready for a business to look at. It is the first time we are presenting our work in a professional setting and have it actually matter. Before we could always adapt and change things as necessary before the final submission at the semester, but not for this project!
I say I am stressed, (I am really), but I am happy to be challenged. I find it makes me work harder and be a little more creative.
Hopefully I can make the mark!
